Hey our friends at the Ryde have launched a new blog… http://blog.theryde.com/
They’re having a t-shirt design competition in an effort to get as many people involved as possible. If you, someone you know, or any of your readers have ever been affected by breast cancer, you’ll know it’s no picnic. PREVENTION IS THE KEY!
Their team effort with B4BC is a great way to get involved and help some boobies out. We are going to have some fun, raise a few bucks, and really make a difference in breast cancer awareness.
Did we mention there are first and second prizes in ca$$h and gear for the design winners?! Check it out.

For Duran Duran fans, here’s a bit of fashion news…
Model Yasmin Le Bon has been made the face one of the UK’s biggest department chains, House of Fraser. marking the first time that the department store chain has used a celebrity in its advertising.
Le Bon will appear in the retailer’s spring/summer campaign, which has been created by Hooper Galton and breaks on March 5. The glossy ads will headline her with witty bits such as:
"I only came out for lipstick."; "My favourite place in the world? My wardrobe"; "When the world is flat, I’ll buy sensible shoes."
Matt Chambers, brand director at House of Fraser, says: "Yasmin Le Bon is one of the pre-eminent models of recent times, and the campaign taps into both her fashion credibility and timeless elegance."

Shu Uemura, the Japanese makeup artist who won acclaim in Hollywood and built an international cosmetics brand under his name, has died. He was 79.
Uemura, who gained acclaim working with actress Shirley MacLaine on the 1962 Hollywood film "My Geisha," died of pneumonia in Tokyo on Dec. 29, according to a statement released Tuesday by his company, also called Shu Uemura. Its products were mentioned in the more recent film "The Devil Wears Prada."
Twiggy would be jealous of the selection of false eyelashes in the Tokyo Eyelash Bar collection, coming in voluptuous lengths, colors and sparkling crystals — or the diamond version that Uemura created for Madonna.
Shu Uemura has stores in New York, Paris, London and Hong Kong, was acquired by French cosmetics maker L’Oreal SA in 2004.

Fashion designer Liz Claiborne revolutionized the way working women put together their wardrobes because she was one of them. She made it easy for them as they pioneered up corporate ladders in the 1970s and 1980s, offering coordinated outfits at once serious and stylish, but also affordable.
Claiborne died Tuesday at the New York Presbyterian Hospital after suffering from cancer for a number of years, said Gwen Satterfield, personal assistant to Claiborne. She was 78.
With husband Art Ortenberg and partners Leonard Boxer and Jerome Chazen, Claiborne launched her label in 1976 after working for years as a relatively unknown dress designer. The brand emphasized ensemble sportswear, quality and keeping the price tag below that of other designers.
"In losing Liz Claiborne, we have not only lost the founder of our company, but an inspirational woman who revolutionized the fashion industry 30 years ago," said McComb in a statement. "Her commitment to style and design is ever present in our thinking and the way we work. We will remember Liz for her vision, her entrepreneurial spirit and her enduring compassion and generosity."

Style Sherlocks sniff out clues.
In this week’s New York magazine, on newsstands today, assistant editor Emma Rosenblum investigates the identity of the anonymous fashionista who’s been blogging as “View From the Fourth Row”. The blogger’s sniping tone—she maintains that Vogue’s Anna Wintour has “the worst shoe taste,” likens Harper’s Bazaar editor Glenda Bailey to an “oompa-loompa,” and keeps a running tally of which editors are “victim/poseurs” (including W’s Alex White)—has caused a certain amount of consternation in that clubby world as well as a lot of finger-pointing as to whom she really is.
The latest top suspect, according to these style sleuths, is Cosmopolitan’s fashion director, Michelle McCool, who also has a Cosmo-sanctioned blog called Fun Fearless Fashion (which went up in September, about a month after Fourth Row’s debut). She emphatically denies it.

A truck full of shoes were stolen enroute to this week’s Golden Globe awards. A total of 120 pairs of Taryn Rose footwear worth $50,000 were taken.
Luckily some of the bigger starlets, such as actress Felicity Huffman and Cate Blanchett, had already collected their shoes in advance. But many others were left to find last-minute replacements.
Dr. Taryn Rose changed the footwear industry in 1998 by creating a line of luxury shoes that are as fashionable as they are functional. It looks like many stars’ toes will have to wait for another time to feel glam & cushy!

If Britney could keep her music career on the same path her fashion sense has taken her she would be just fine. Instead, its her inability to dress (sometimes literally) that has put her at the top of Blackwell’s Worst Dressed Women in 2006. For Spears this is the 2nd year in a row atop the dubious chart.
Lucky for Britney she has company, celebutante Paris Hilton wasn’t content with her sixth place finish last year and did something about it. Or maybe she did nothing about it and that’s why she joins Brtiney Spears as co-worst dressed women leading Blackwell to dub the pair “screamgirls.”
Blackwell went on to describe them as “style-free and fashion deprived – two peas in an over-exposed pod.”
Cammila Parker-Bowles found herself in the number two slot on the list. The Brit hasn’t won over many fans of the feathered hats she dons. Lindsay Lohan was labeled as “tragically trapped in fashion’s fast lane” and sped her way up the charts to number three.
Richard Blackwell has published his ten-worst dressed women list since 1960, and it has gained cult like status amongst the media. Blackwell was a fashion designer into the sixties.
Blackwell’s worst-dressed women of 2006 are:
1) Britney Spears/Paris Hilton
2) Camilla Parker-Bowles
3) Lindsay Lohan
4) Christina Aguilera
5) Mariah Carey
6) Paula Abdul
7) Sharon Stone
8) Tori Spelling
9) Sandra Oh
10) Meryl Streep
