At the recent BC Fashion Week (Canada), selected media and designers were invited to attend fashion shows spotlighting local designers, retreat in the EFFEN Vodka Style Lounge and kick up their heels at the Sound of Fashion Launch Party, and also receive a special gift bag.
The bag included Pout Plump lip gloss, a sampling of Frédéric Fekkai’s new Coiff line, Goody Styling Therapy hair brush, Love is Heaven underwear (very Ed Hardy), Nettwerk Records’ new Um Huh Her disc (Camila Grey and also Leisha Hailey from the L-Word), Linden Leave’s Gold Mist, and many other fun bits.
This gift bag is a virtual “it list” in itself, representing some of the trendiest finds to covet:

This fall, menswear is all the rage. Smart cuts and traditional fabrics are in this fall as well as the layered look. Think polo shirts over dress shirts and vests over sweaters. Contrast layering is big and so is color. We’re seeing blues, yellows, greens, earth tones, reds, and tans.
Slimmer jeans are hot. Forget the baggy look. Straight legs and tapered legs are the new pant shapes of this season. Pull the look together with a slim pullover under a police jacket.
Scarves are great. Chunky knitted scarves in trendy colors, loose knits, combed wool, and scarves with designs will add elegance to your wardrobe. Like jeans, neckties are also getting slimmer with more subdued colors.
Footwear is where things get fun. Think dark, earthier colors. Laced up boots are huge this season as well as classic oxfords and loafers. For those who are asking about sneakers-this season choose sneakers that are more refined and versatile. From brown suede to crocodile skin loafers, this fall gives you great choices in foot fashion.
Isn’t it great to be a man?

When you started your business, you probably imagined never having to suit up for an interview or conform to someone’s dress code ever again. Right? Wrong. As an entrepreneur, your style of dress is more important than ever before. Here are a sample of Jessica Hupps rules to show clients that you’re a professional…
1. Wear what makes you feel confident: This one’s important, because if you don’t appear confident, no amount of tailoring and shoe shining can make up for it.
2. Always wear nice shoes: Run down and scuffed up shoes will make you look like you’re sloppy and can’t pay attention to detail. Clients do not want to see this.
3. T-shirts just won’t work: You may think that your client is charmed by the witty saying on your shirt, but he’s laughing at you, not with you. Instead of a t-shirt, wear a polo or a comfortable button-down. This rule goes for flip flops and Crocs, too.
4. Keep a spare in your car: Keep a few key pieces in the trunk of your car in case you find yourself roped into a last minute meeting and need to take your appearance up a notch. A wrinkle-free jacket, shoes and a belt should suffice. Make sure that they’re versatile enough to work with just about anything you’d normally wear.
